Creative & Discovery Side
This side of the room is ideal for painting, mark-making, messy play, construction, sensory resources and hands-on investigation. It gives children the freedom to explore, experiment and learn through doing.
Panda Bears is our welcoming toddler room for children aged 2 to 3 years. It is a lively stage full of language, imagination, friendships and growing confidence. With caring support from our team, children are encouraged to make choices, explore new ideas and become more independent every day.
Panda Bears is arranged across two halves of the room so children can enjoy different kinds of play and learning throughout the day. This gives toddlers more choice, helps keep activities purposeful and supports the natural rhythm between busy exploration and calmer play.

This side encourages role play, books, small-world play, puzzles, conversation and quieter group experiences. It is a lovely space for language development, friendships and imaginative play.
Toddlerhood is a big time for “I can do it.” In Panda Bears, children are gently supported to try things for themselves, whether that means choosing an activity, helping to tidy away, washing hands, sitting at the table, using spoons and forks, or beginning to manage coats and belongings.
We know that independence grows best when children feel safe and encouraged, so our team stays close by with warmth, patience and praise.
Children aged 2 to 3 learn so much through talking, pretending, copying and playing alongside others. Role play, stories, songs, small-world play and group experiences help children build vocabulary, learn to take turns, express ideas and enjoy friendships.
Our practitioners listen carefully, model language naturally and join in play in ways that extend children’s thinking without taking over.
In Panda Bears, learning is practical, playful and carefully observed. We use children’s interests to shape meaningful experiences linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage, helping them develop across all areas of learning in ways that feel enjoyable and natural.
Painting, collage, dough, mark-making and open-ended materials.
Construction, puzzles, matching, sorting and simple challenges.
Songs, action rhymes and movement that support listening and coordination.
Sand, water, sensory experiences and hands-on discovery.
Outdoor play gives Panda Bears space to investigate and experiment. At the water wall, children explore pouring, flow, movement and cause and effect while building confidence through hands-on play.
The playhouse and slide help children build balance, coordination and physical confidence. They give toddlers opportunities to climb, move, take turns and enjoy active outdoor play with friends.
Every day is flexible and responsive to the children, but it usually includes a happy mix of routine, play, outdoor time and group experiences.
Warm greetings, breakfast if needed, choosing activities and settling into the room with familiar adults.
Creative play, role play, stories, singing, small-group activities and child-led exploration.
Time to sit together, use cutlery, practise hand washing and build independence in everyday routines.
Outdoor play, movement, fresh air, quieter moments later in the day and a calm handover to families.
Nicola, Daisy and Layla help make Panda Bears a happy and reassuring place to be. They understand the big developmental leap that happens between 2 and 3 and support children with patience, enthusiasm and genuine care.
The best way to understand Panda Bears is to come and see it in person. We would love to show you both halves of the room, introduce the team and answer any questions you may have about your child’s care, routine and development.
