Confident, Curious and Ready for School

Our Polar Bears Preschool is a happy, stimulating place where children can explore, create, develop friendships and become increasingly independent. With two dedicated preschool rooms, daily outdoor learning and meaningful experiences in the local community, children are given the space, encouragement and confidence to prepare naturally for their next step into school.

More space, more choice

Two Preschool Rooms to Explore

Polar Bears children can choose between two inviting learning spaces, helping them follow their interests and decide how and where they would like to play and learn.

Our Main Preschool Room

A bright, engaging room for stories, role play, construction, puzzles, early writing, numbers, small-world play and quieter focused activities. Resources are arranged so children can make choices, develop ideas and become increasingly independent.

Our Creative and Messy-Play Room

A dedicated space for painting, drawing, craft, mark-making and hands-on exploration. Children can experiment with materials, express their own ideas and enjoy the process of creating without everything needing to be perfect.

A room made for creativity

Having a separate creative room gives children the time and freedom to become deeply involved in art, design and imaginative projects while keeping the main room available for other types of play and learning.

Learning through real experiences

Practical, Purposeful and Enjoyable

Children enjoy cooking, science, music, gardening and other hands-on activities that bring learning to life. Cooking provides natural opportunities to measure, count, follow instructions, take turns, discuss ingredients and work together as a group.

Our thoughtful balance of child-led play, carefully planned activities and warm adult guidance supports communication, curiosity, problem-solving and confidence.

Early literacy

Phonics That Feels Like Play

Fun, interactive phonics experiences help children listen carefully, recognise sounds, build vocabulary and develop confidence with early reading. Small-group activities allow Lindsey and Chelsea to support each child at the right pace while keeping learning lively and enjoyable.

Creativity and expression

Ideas Are Encouraged

Painting, drawing, craft and mark-making help children communicate ideas, strengthen fine-motor skills and take pride in their own creativity. Children are encouraged to experiment and make individual choices rather than produce identical finished work.

Outdoor learning every day

Confidence Grows Outdoors

Using the garden is an important part of every preschool day. Children climb, balance, investigate nature, garden, dig, build, use ride-on toys and enjoy carefully supervised adventurous play.

Our spacious outdoor environment—with its playhouse, tunnel slide, big yellow digger, bus, castle and natural challenges—supports physical development, teamwork, resilience, imagination and healthy risk assessment.

Beyond the nursery

Exploring Our Local Community

Preschool children enjoy meaningful local experiences including visits to parks, the train station, pet shops and other nearby places. These outings encourage curiosity, confidence, conversation and a growing understanding of the world around them.

Children are carefully supervised and supported so they can notice seasonal changes, learn about local services and turn everyday experiences into memorable learning.

Preparing naturally for the next step

School Readiness Is About the Whole Child

Preparing for school means much more than recognising letters and numbers. We help children develop the personal, social and practical skills that allow them to approach school with confidence.

Everyday routines, such as pouring a drink, making choices and looking after belongings, give children practical opportunities to become increasingly capable and independent.

Confidence

Sharing ideas, speaking with others and trying new experiences.

Independence

Making choices, managing belongings and completing everyday tasks.

Friendships

Cooperating, taking turns, listening and understanding others.

Learning Skills

Concentrating, solving problems, following routines and keeping on trying.

A special record to treasure

Their Preschool Journey, Kept Forever

Throughout their time in Polar Bears, we collect examples of each child’s work in their own individual folder. It becomes a special record of their creativity, learning and progress during preschool. Following graduation, the completed folder is presented to parents as a keepsake to enjoy and look back on together.

Experienced and caring
